Job Title: UX Designer (Contract) – GDS Experience Essential
Location: Remote - 1 day per month in Manchester
Day Rate: £480pd inside IR35
We require an experienced UX Designer to join our team on a contract basis, working on a high-impact public sector project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in user-centred design and proven experience working to Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead user research and usability testing to inform design decisions
* Design accessible, user-focused solutions across digital services
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including researchers, developers, and product managers
* Ensure designs align with GDS principles and service standards
* Produce wireframes, prototypes, and documentation to support development
* Maintain a strong UX design background with a user-centred approach
* Design services to meet GDS standards, with familiarity with GOV.UK Design System
* Work effectively in agile, cross-functional teams
* Communicate clearly and manage stakeholder expectations
* Experience working on public sector projects
* Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG)
* Proficient in tools like Figma, Sketch, or similar
