Transport Supervisor, 4on 4off
Do you love transport and thrive in a fast‑paced environment? Join us as a Transport Supervisor at our Lesmahagow site. You’ll lead daily operations, support drivers, and keep everything running smoothly, all while building strong customer relationships and driving efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Team Support & Motivation: Work closely with the Transport Manager to lead and inspire the transport team, ensuring optimal use of staff and assets. Focus on driving performance, enhancing efficiency, and delivering exceptional service to our customers.
* Operational Leadership: Take ownership of daily transport operations, including dispatch, debriefs, and managing work in progress. Act as the primary point of contact for resolving issues promptly and maintaining smooth workflows.
* Planning Collaboration: Partner with the planner to develop daily and weekly transport plans, aligning resources with demand and staying ahead of operational needs.
* Customer Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with the customer's on‑site team, serving as a key liaison to ensure clear communication and seamless service delivery.
* Driver Oversight & Debriefs: Support and manage drivers throughout their shifts, conducting thorough debriefs and ensuring efficient use of vehicles and routes. Drive productivity while upholding compliance and safety standards.
* Reporting & Insights: Provide regular updates to the Transport Manager, highlighting customer performance, operational challenges, and improvement opportunities to inform strategic decisions.
* Health & Safety Leadership: Monitor and audit health and safety practices across the operation, ensuring a safe environment and full regulatory compliance.
* Communication Hub: Act as a central point of contact for queries and updates, whether face‑to‑face, by phone, or email, keeping all stakeholders informed and aligned.
* KPI & Data Management: Assist in generating daily performance metrics and statistics, supporting the team in achieving targets and driving continuous improvement.
* Compliance & Incident Response: Contribute to compliance planning and respond swiftly to breakdowns, minimising disruption and maintaining service standards.
* Team Culture & Collaboration: Foster a positive, collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge, offering support, and working together to achieve common goals.
Requirements
* Previous experience working in a transport environment, including knowledge of working time directive and EU driver's hours.
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
* Critical attention to detail and ability to meet daily deadlines.
* Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Eligible to work in the UK with no restrictions; proof of Right to Work required at interview.
