Our client is a leading manufacturer of flow control and fluid handling components, renowned for engineering excellence, quality, innovation, and reliability. Their product range includes valves, pumps, actuators, and rotating equipment, serving major industrial sectors such as OEMs, chemicals, oil and gas, petrochemicals, water treatment, food and beverage, and anaerobic digestion. They are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic Sales Manager with an entrepreneurial spirit aiming to advance into General Management. This role involves full responsibility for the Yorkshire site and UK market.
The Role
This position requires a proven leader with experience in sales management, general or commercial management, preferably within the flow control, fluid handling, or related industries. The candidate should be ambitious, with a mechanical mindset, and capable of fostering a high-performance sales culture.
* Manage UK business operations, including P&L
* Drive sales growth across the UK and hire a sales professional to expand profitable sales
* Develop internal team’s technical and core skills
* Improve internal sales efficiency by prioritizing large opportunities, developing house accounts, and spares/after-sales support
* Handle highly technical RFQs and high-value opportunities, challenging margins, and spares processes
* Manage large, complex enquiries, collaborating internally and externally for better conversion rates
* Support customer service, spares, and order management
* Collaborate with marketing to enhance customer engagement
* Achieve sales targets and analyze market trends for growth opportunities
* Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage customer service/technical teams; set performance expectations; foster relationships with key clients and stakeholders
* Monitor sales performance through KPIs, conduct reviews, and provide feedback
* Prepare sales forecasts and reports for management
The Person
* Proven success in sales leadership, ideally in fluid handling or flow control sectors
* Dynamic, entrepreneurial, ambitious attitude
* Experience in sales strategy development and industry contacts
* Strong market understanding and team management skills
* Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills
* Financial acumen, including budgeting and forecasting
* Desired Skills: Experience as a Sales Manager/GM, CRM management, market research, performance reporting, strategic mindset, organizational skills, mechanical engineering qualification (BTEC HNC or equivalent), fluid engineering background, technical presentation and negotiation skills, equipment selection expertise, valid driving license
