A standout opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Family Law Solicitor to step into a Head of Department role within a well-regarded and growing practice.
This is a leadership-level position offering real influence over the direction and development of the family law team, alongside a strong caseload of complex private and publicly funded matters. Ideal for a solicitor with a proven track record in both fee-earning and team management, looking to take the next step in their career.
The Role:
* Lead and manage the Family Law department, ensuring delivery of high-quality legal services.
* Oversee a varied caseload, to include:
* Divorce & separation
* Financial remedy
* Children Act matters (including parental disputes and arrangements)
* Domestic abuse and injunctions
* Care proceedings
* Act as supervisor for legal aid work (panel membership required).
* Mentor and develop junior lawyers and support staff.
* Work closely with senior management to set and deliver departmental strategy.
* Drive business development, networking, and marketing activity to grow the department’s profile.
* Appear in court as an advocate where appropriate.
Requirements:
* 6+ years PQE in Family Law, with substantial experience in both private and legal aid matters.
* Experience in a senior, supervisory, or leadership role within a family department.
* Panel membership essential (to meet legal aid supervision requirements).
* Strong background in handling complex financial and children matters.
* A natural leader with the ability to inspire and develop others.
* Excellent client care and communication skills.
* Commercial awareness and a strategic mindset.
