Cathays High School is seeking two members of staff to join our highly successful Learning Support Team in a multicultural high school, close to Cardiff city centre.
Cathays High School is an inclusive and restorative school. Our Learning Support Team effectively meets the needs of a range of learners with additional learning needs, including those in our Specialist Resource Base for Autism and those with emotional wellbeing and mental health needs. The person appointed will be able to work with a wide range of pupils supporting them to access classrooms but also delivering 1:1 and small group interventions. Our intervention program includes literacy, numeracy, wellbeing support and social skills sessions. The successful candidate must be able to communicate well and build positive relationships with young people, their families and the wider staff team to ensure positive outcomes and ensure all pupils display our school values of being prepared, showing respect and having pride.
Safeguarding is paramount and our Teaching Assistants work closely with our Designated Safeguarding Person (DSP) to support our most vulnerable learners.
Cathays High School has very strong systems for the professional development and support of all staff and especially those new to the profession. We also have an excellent record of helping ambitious and hard-working staff to make rapid career progression within our community.
The school expects all staff to participate actively in supporting the principles and practice of equality and Opportunities for All as laid down in the school’s policy. We also expect all staff to follow our core behaviours of ‘Collaboration, Ownership and Team First’.
If you would like to make a difference to the lives, and life chances, of young people in our inclusive, caring and successful school please apply by completing the application form by midday on Tuesday 23rd June. You must be registered or willing to register with the EWC.
If you would like any further information, please contact Mrs Natasha Jones (Assistant Headteacher)
We look forward to hearing from you.
