Job Purpose:
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join the Genesis Decommissioning Team, a dynamic group working across a range of assignments from traditional upstream oil and gas to emerging energy transition developments. You will work as part of a highly skilled and experienced team, working with a wide range of clients on varied and interesting projects related to the energy industry. Our work encompasses defining new developments decommissioning philosophies during concept selection, through to technical/perimetry support of mature assets and the production of Decommissioning Programmes and Client support during execution.
At Genesis we work in close collaboration with our clients, develop an understanding of their problems before identifying the possible solutions and supporting their decision-making process. Key areas of activity within the Decommissioning team are:
* Decommissioning considerations and cost estimating for oil and gas and energy transition projects
* Multi-discipline late Life and post-CoP operating mode studies for OPEX reduction
* Technical options screening & evaluation – structural, subsea and marine
* Stakeholder Engagement and Regulatory Submissions:
o Decommissioning Programmes
o Comparative Assessments (CAs)
o Environmental Appraisals (EAs)
* Client team support and advice
* Waste Management Support (promoting Circular Economy, Duty of Care Audits, Management Plans etc)
* Subsea and topsides Engineer Down and Clean studies
* Supply chain and Technology reviews
* Scope of Work Preparation
* Project sequencing and schedule development
Job scope (budget, management, specific criteria):
The successful candidate will support a wide range of clients on varied and interesting projects related to the energy industry. You will also interface with the wider Genesis organisation through interactions with other discipline teams and a range of clients in the UK and overseas.
You will have the opportunity to work in related disciplines based on your career interests, and will be supported should you wish to work towards Chartered status.
Main Accountabilities:
* Preparation of deliverables under supervision
* Preparing reports and presenting to clients with guidance
* Participating in project workshops
* Contributing to proposals
* Identification and interpretation of relevant regulations and standards.
* Provision of decommissioning engineering technical and compliance advice.
* Review of documentation, including engineering, environmental, survey and drawings in support of decommissioning studies.
* Input to CAs, HAZID/ENVID reviews and multi-discipline decommissioning projects.
* Interaction with clients to ensure delivery of requirements to agreed scope, schedule and budget.
Typical background and experience required:
* University degree qualified in engineering or science, with a preference for a Structural Engineering focus.
* Experience in a similar role would be beneficial.
* Knowledge of decommissioning legislation.
* Knowledge of decommissioning engineering techniques, solutions and challenges.
* Strong time-management skills and therefore good planning and organisational abilities.
* Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
* Strong team player with excellent written skills and attention to detail.
* Well-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines.
* Ability to think innovatively.
* Commercial awareness.
* Computer literate including standard MS Office software use and data manipulation.
* Ability and aptitude to learn quickly through training to gain expertise in the above relevant to the oil & gas and renewables industry sectors.
