Role Overview
C21 is a busy 39‑bed stroke medicine ward. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who want to positively contribute to patient experience. As a ward hostess, you will be instrumental in delivering outstanding care by ensuring patients receive high standards of food, fluids, and a clean, pleasant environment. You will collaborate with the healthcare team as a valued member of the team.
Responsibilities
* Providing nutritional duties and giving out patient food.
* Carrying out hydration needs and regular drinks rounds.
* Ensuring fluid balance charts and food charts are maintained.
* Documentation kept up to a high standard.
* Communicating with patients and, at times, with relatives.
* Assisting patients in completing menus and explaining options.
* Stock management and control, including placing regular orders and rotating stock.
* Assisting patients before and after meals to cleanse hands.
* Ensuring each patient receives their correct meal choice and required beverages, escalating concerns to registered nurses.
* Arranging and coordinating additional food as requested by nurses.
* Leading the serving of breakfast and lunch in a timely manner.
* Facilitating regular decluttering throughout the day, maintaining cleanliness of patient bed areas, lockers, tables, and chairs.
* Promoting a culture of keeping the ward clean and tidy for domestic and clinical staff.
* Managing and rotating stock appropriately.
Person Specification
* GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent.
* Previous experience desirable but not essential.
