1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time, Long-Term Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in a welcoming primary school in Borehamwood. This is a full-time, long-term role starting in April 2026, ideal for candidates with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) support or those looking to develop their career in inclusive education.
The Role
You will provide personalised support to a pupil with additional needs, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in school life. Working closely with the class teacher and SEN team, you will contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN, adapting activities to meet their needs
* Assist with classroom tasks, learning activities, and social integration
* Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
* Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers
* Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
* Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to ensure consistent support
* Participate in school activities and contribute to a positive school culture
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Experience working with children with SEN, preferably in a school setting
* Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
* Ability to follow guidance from teachers and SEN coordinators
* Confidence supporting both academic and social development
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
