Job Title: Scientist - Technical Operations (Manufacturing Support)
Oxford Nanopore Technologies, headquartered at the Oxford Science Park, UK, with global offices across US, APAC, and Europe, is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our Technical Operations Team. The primary focus of this role is to support the manufacturing processes of our innovative fluidic chips and electrochemical arrays.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical support to production, utilizing tools such as failure mode effect analysis, root cause analysis, and Six Sigma methodologies.
2. Analyze and interpret data, applying programming skills where relevant.
3. Establish, monitor, and analyze in-process testing procedures.
4. Characterize and optimize materials and processes through design of experiments.
5. Qualify material, process, and design changes.
6. Identify areas for continuous improvement, develop proposals, and implement solutions.
7. Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions.
8. Collaborate with third-party suppliers to ensure robust out-of-house processes and quality measures.
9. Work with external suppliers on specifications, verification, and qualification.
10. Report findings clearly and concisely, and document changes effectively.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Background in Materials Science, Physics, Surface Science, or similar fields, with strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
* Experience in microfluidic system design, manufacture, and analysis is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of cleanroom processes, microstructuring, surface modification, and material analysis on MEMS structures is beneficial.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills for interaction with multidisciplinary teams.
* Change Control experience is a plus.
