Cost Controller
Our client, a leading independent Oil & Gas Operator, is currently seeking a Cost Controller to join their finance team.
This is a permanent opportunity, based in Norwich working on a Monday to Friday basis.
This position will be responsible for supporting all UK operations across the Southern North Sea by effectively managing costs across multiple activities.
This is a multi-faceted role which requires the ability to work as part of a team whilst also having the ability to work independently; you will be liaising with the finance team and providing monthly reports to group cost control.
This position will be based in our client’s Norwich office and operates on a Monday to Friday basis.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Produce detailed daily cost tracking data.
2. Produce monthly cost reports.
3. Analyse and interpret reports, providing recommendations to management.
4. Financial budgeting and control of project costs across a range of departments.
5. Maintain cost records (AFE, Commitments, Costs, Forecast, Phasing) in support of the above.
6. Prepare and submit monthly accruals to Financial Timetable and contribute to the annual budget process as necessary.
7. Critical review of costs and raising correction journals.
8. Check, challenge and approve purchase requisitions.
9. Prepare monthly cash calls and cash flows to Financial Timetable.
10. Assist in the preparation of ‘Authorisation for Expenditure’ (Cost estimation and evaluation).
11. Prepare and present ad hoc cost data for management as required.
12. Check and challenge invoices.
13. Engage with audit (internal and external) for validation or defence of costing methodology.
14. Coordination of SAGE time writing in support of correct cost allocation and recoveries.
15. Any other cost control-related activities required by line or functional management.
Qualifications/Experience:
16. Part AAT qualified/studying for CIMA desirable but not essential as work experience preferred.
17. Strong knowledge of general accounting procedures essential with broad practical experience.
18. Confident IT user including strong Excel skills
19. Working knowledge of SAP
