Purpose of the Role
Effectively monitor and maintain the bank’s critical technology infrastructure and resolve more complex technical issues while minimising disruption to operations.
Accountabilities
Provide technical support for the service management function to resolve complex issues for a specific client or group of clients. Develop the support model and service offering to improve service to customers and stakeholders. Execute preventative maintenance tasks on hardware and software, use monitoring tools/metrics to identify potential issues, and ensure optimal performance. Maintain a knowledge base with detailed documentation of resolved cases for future reference, self‑service opportunities, and knowledge sharing. Analyze system logs, error messages and user reports to identify root causes of hardware, software and network issues, and provide resolution by fixing or replacing faulty components, reinstalling software or configuring changes.
Implement automation, monitoring enhancements, capacity management, resiliency, business continuity management, front‑office specific support and stakeholder management. Identify and remediate or raise potential service‑impacting risks and issues through the appropriate process. Proactively assess support activities and implement automations to maintain stability and drive efficiency. Actively tune monitoring tools, thresholds and alerting to ensure issues are known when they occur.

Responsibilities
Join Barclays as a Cryptography PKI and SSH Engineer: design, implement and manage secure cryptographic and access control systems. Ensure encryption, key management and secure communication comply with internal security policies and external regulatory standards. Collaborate with system, network, and security teams to integrate Zero Trust principles, manage SSH tunneling, harden systems and ensure secure connectivity. Participate in on‑call support (24/7) to respond to urgent incidents, resolve cryptographic or access failures, and maintain service continuity.
Qualifications
Ability to design, implement, and maintain SSH-based secure frameworks aligned with banking security policies and regulatory requirements.
Deep understanding of encryption standards and secure key management practices, primarily centred around PKI and SSH.
Strong understanding of Unix/Linux/Windows system administration.
* Networking and security troubleshooting.
* Scripting capability (e.g., Python, Go).
* Working knowledge of relevant financial security standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, and FIPS 140-3.
Additional assessment may focus on risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology expertise, and job‑specific technical skills. Position based in Knutsford.
