Job overview
The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist dietetic assessments and interventions for the learning disability services which include interpreting and communicating the science of nutrition into practical dietary advice, promote nutritional wellbeing, treat disease and prevent nutritional related problems to support recovery of people with a Learning Disability. The post holder will be expected to support their team, department and organisation to achieve the Trust’s Values in their day-to-day work.
Main duties of the job
To be an integral part of the multidisciplinary teams, delivering intensive support to people and their families. Provide nutritional advice, education and training to nursing staff, doctors, and other health care professionals and clinical supervision to dietitians working within the learning disability services in other areas of the Trust if identified as appropriate.
·Ensure the delivery of highly comprehensive dietetic assessments, interventions and evaluations across learning disability services.
·Work flexibly across all learning disability services with diverse presentations and complex multi-pathologies, including people with cognitive impairment.
·Demonstrate high personal standards in clinical practice.
·Use advanced clinical reasoning skills and judgements to inform recommendations regarding appropriate actions/sign posting in consultation with multi-disciplinary learning disability staff in accordance with the service specification.
·To ensure interventions are provided in line with NICE Guidance and British Dietetic Association (BDA) guidelines including other relevant local and national documentation.
·Responsible for prioritising workload, allocation of work to oneself and other staff, and to cover all levels of priority of work within the service.

Probationary Period

Starting at NELFT
NELFT places great importance on new starters being properly welcomed into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will also have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend several drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 pro rata for part time).
