Your purpose will be:
To ensure the safe, efficient, and high‑quality operation of all plumbing systems throughout Fairmont Cheshire The Mere. The Plumber plays a vital role in maintaining the hotel’s luxury environment by delivering expert maintenance, swift repairs, and preventative care across guest rooms, public areas, spa facilities, kitchens, and back‑of‑house spaces. Through technical excellence, attention to detail, and a commitment to Fairmont’s service philosophy, this role supports the smooth running of the property and enhances the guest experience.
Job Description
1. Carry out plumbing maintenance, repairs, and installations across guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, spa facilities, and back‑of‑house zones
2. Respond promptly to maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to guests and operations
3. Conduct preventative maintenance on all plumbing systems, including pipework, drainage, pumps, valves, and water heaters
4. Diagnose and resolve faults efficiently, ensuring long‑term solutions and adherence to safety standards
5. Support the Engineering team with daily operational tasks, planned maintenance, and emergency call‑outs
6. Ensure all work complies with UK building regulations, health & safety standards, and Fairmont brand expectations
7. Maintain accurate records of completed work, parts used, and follow‑up requirements
8. Monitor water systems, including pressure, temperature, filtration, and chemical balance where required
9. Assist with major projects, refurbishments, and system upgrades
10. Ensure tools, equipment, and workshop areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and organised condition
11. Collaborate with Housekeeping, Front Office, Spa, and F&B teams to support seamless operations
12. Provide professional communication when interacting with guests or colleagues, maintaining a polished and courteous manner
13. Support energy‑saving and sustainability initiatives related to water usage and system efficiency
14. Participate in daily briefings and training sessions to stay aligned with operational priorities
15. Uphold Fairmont grooming, conduct, and service standards at all times
16. Demonstrate flexibility and multi‑skilling, supporting additional engineering tasks as required
Qualifications
17. Minimum 2–3 years’ experience as a plumber or maintenance engineer, ideally within hospitality, commercial buildings, or luxury environments
18. Recognised plumbing qualification, such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent)
19. Strong understanding of UK plumbing regulations, water systems, drainage, and safety standards
20. Experience with preventative maintenance programmes and reactive repair work
21. Ability to diagnose and resolve issues quickly and effectively
22. Excellent communication skills, with a professional and courteous approach
23. Strong organisational and time‑management abilities
24. Comfort working independently and as part of a wider Engineering team
25. Physical capability to meet the demands of the role, including manual handling and working in confined spaces
26. A commitment to maintaining luxury standards and supporting an exceptional guest experience
