​ ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY We are currently looking to appoint a dedicated and inspiring Specialist Teacher of SEN to be responsible and accountable for teaching and monitoring KS3 Literacy intervention programmes, including Phonics, Lexia and Hackney Literature. You will also be responsible for raising the standards of attainment and achievement for groups of students (e.g. SEN, EAL and underachieving groups) across the curriculum and to monitor and support student progress with particular regard to students named on the SEND register. If you are looking for an opportunity to grow, inspire and develop, this may be the role for you. ​ MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY W To be responsible and accountable for teaching and monitoring KS3 Literacy intervention programmes, including Phonics, Lexia and Hackney Literature. To raise standards of students’ (e.g. SEN, EAL and underachieving groups) attainment and achievement across the curriculum and to monitor and support student progress with particular regard to students named on the SEND register. To identify and adopt the most effective teaching approaches for students with SEN so as to provide consistently high-quality teaching. To be accountable for the progress and development of students assigned to. To be responsible and accountable for teaching and monitoring Speech and Language intervention programmes to develop students’ communication and interaction skills. To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and personalised curriculum for students on an alternative pathway. To complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed interventions under an agreed system of supervision. This will involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals and groups and monitoring students and assessing, recording and reporting on students’ achievement, progress and development. To assess and return work in line with the Academy’s Assessment Policy. Marking should include feedback for improvement and progress for each student. To carry out teaching duties in accordance with the Academy’s Schemes of Work, the National Curriculum and public examinations specifications. To work closely with teachers and teaching assistants to ensure that suitable tasks and learning materials are personalised. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR We would like to hear from you if you have: Relevant experience in SEN. Experience teaching literacy interventions (Ideally, Lexia, Hackney Literature and Phonics) Experience teaching speech and language interventions Knowledge of appropriate health safety regulations. Experience of working in a school. Qualified Teacher Status. Understanding of the importance of students achieving their full potential. A proven track record of recent and successful class teaching in mixed ability classes including implementation of support for high needs students with SEN. Good understanding of child development and progression and how this is impacted by SEN. Successful experience of delivering learning activities to students with ASD, SLCN and complex cognitive learning differences. Understanding of effective strategies for managing behaviour within the classroom and in accordance with the school’s policy.
