We are seeking a high:calibre, experienced SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator) to report directly to the Head of School. This is a vital Leadership and Management opportunity focusing on developing, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of SEN provision.
Key Responsibilities and Impact
The core purpose of this role is to raise SEN pupil achievement and ensure the school meets all statutory responsibilities.

Strategic and Operational Leadership: Advise the Head of School on strategic SEN policy development and oversee the day:to:day operation of all special education provision.

Provision Management: Coordinate and deploy SEN staff (including therapists), resources, and effective strategies across the school.

Statutory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) requirements and defined SEND assessments. Conduct annual statutory reviews.

Therapy and Inclusion: Lead and manage the schools comprehensive therapy offer to ensure an integrated approach to student support.
*
Exams and Transitions: Act as Deputy Exam Officer (managing accreditation and JCQ requirements) and oversee high:quality Careers Education and successful Post:16 transition plans.

Leadership Duties: Work closely with the Head on budget management, policy implementation, recruitment, and managing CPD for classroom staff.
Essential Requirements
We are seeking a QTS:qualified leader with proven success in complex educational settings:

Qualification: QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent.
*
Experience: Proven track record of excellent, creative, and structured teaching in relevant Key Stages or specialist environments.
*
Leadership: Successful experience leading a significant area/phase or Inclusion strategy, with responsibility for raising whole:school standards.
*
Knowledge: Clear understanding and implementation of ASD intervention strategies (TEACCH or similar) and up:to:date knowledge of statutory SEND regulations.
*
Data Analysis: Ability to analyse data to evaluate pupil performance and inform school improvement planning.
Note: The successful candidate must demonstrate significant resilience and possess the physical fitness commensurate with involvement in the full range of school activities, including physical restraint on occasion.
Desirable Qualities and Professional Growth

Further Qualification: Accredited training in specific SEN areas (e.g., Autism, Dyslexia) or a relevant NPQ (NPQSL/H/SENDCo):or willingness to achieve this within 2 years.

CPD Expertise: Evidence of developing and delivering effective professional development.
