What is a Transportation Supervisor?
The Transportation Supervisor works within the Transportation division and leads personnel in the repair and maintenance of company owned units. The Transportation Supervisor ensures various garages are operating in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
What does a Transportation Supervisor do?
8. Plans, schedules, and supervises the maintenance and repair of all vehicles, construction equipment and special equipment as assigned
9. Trains and instructs employees in the performance of their duties, safety rules and regulations, and in standard practices
10. Provides oversight and approval of shop orders documenting work performed
11. Plans and supervises assigned workforce to maintain the highest level of productivity, cost control, and customer satisfaction
12. Controls and monitors costs and ensures the appropriate use of corporate assets
13. Promotes and maintains a safe workplace for employees, contractors, and the general public
14. Coordinates activities with other operating units of the Company, contractors and other non-Company personnel as required
15. Plans, develops, and recommends improvements and changes in equipment, tools, methods, standards, rules, and practices
16. Supervises and leads assigned personnel to achieve organizational goals and objectives
17. Performs other assignments as required
18. Provides support for storm restoration efforts
What does it take to be a Transportation Supervisor?
Required:
19. Associates Degree in Automotive, Business, Engineering or a related field and 3+ years of related experience (such as experience in automotive, diesel, or hydraulic industries). In lieu of a degree, High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of related experience (such as experience in an automotive, diesel, or hydraulic industry)
20. Computer skills and the ability to learn new computer software programs quickly
21. Experience with diagnostic software and scan tools
22. Strong time management skills
23. Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills and the ability to satisfy customer requests effectively and efficiently
24. Strong organizational skills with experience scheduling and managing multiple work flows simultaneously
25. Proven track record of safety
26. Valid Driver’s License
27. Successful candidates not in possession of a Class A or B CDL must obtain one within one year of employment
Preferred:
28. Supervisory experience in an auto/truck garage environment
29. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
30. Proficiency with fleet management software
