Practice Plus Group are pleased to announce that they have recently taken over the healthcare contract at HMP Garth, a Category B prison in Lancashire. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health team. The prison houses around 1500 men with a variety of health needs.
Hours
This position is working 15 hours per week.
Salary
You’ll receive an annual salary of between £170,000 and £180,000 FTE - depending on experience.
How will we support you?
* You will be part of a team of 15 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists
* You will be able to attend monthly Consultant's meetings and 1:1 clinical supervision
* Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course
* Competency framework
Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks
Main duties of the job
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will vary. You will
* Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite
* Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision
* Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi professional complex case reviews

Qualifications
* Registered professional with current registration (GMC)
* Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry
* Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983
* Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
* Up to date knowledge in the adult psychiatry and PD
* Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
