Salary aligned to current NHS Scotland Band 5 rates: £34,544 to £43,039 per annum, depending on experience and skills.
The Role
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive primary care team. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who is confident in core nursing skills and keen to develop further within a busy GP practice environment. The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering high-quality nursing care to our patient population while being supported to broaden their knowledge and clinical skills over time.
Main Duties
1. Undertake venepuncture (bloods), injections, wound care, dressings and other treatment room procedures.
2. Carry out observations, ECGs and basic investigations as required.
3. Support same-day / on-the-day nursing assessments within competence and practice protocols.
4. Assist clinicians in managing acute presentations and urgent patient needs.
5. Undertake cervical screening / smears if trained, or be willing to undertake appropriate training.
6. Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and follow up results and actions appropriately.
7. Promote health education, prevention and patient self-management where appropriate.
8. Work collaboratively as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.
Training and Development
9. Structured support to develop skills in chronic disease management including diabetes, COPD / asthma and hypertension.
10. Support with preventative care, recall systems and quality improvement activity.
11. Ongoing professional development within primary care nursing.
About You
12. Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
13. Primary care or community experience desirable but not essential.
14. Confident in venepuncture and basic treatment room skills.
15. Strong communication and organisational skills.
16. Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
17. Interested in developing within chronic disease management and preventative care.
