Our client, Yamazaki Mazak, is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading machine tool manufacturer that has been at the forefront of the industry for many years.
We are looking for a Shipping Supervisor to ensure machines are prepared to the highest standards and shipped safely, efficiently, and on time, while meeting quality, cost, and customer requirements.
This role involves hands-on leadership, cross-functional communication, and continuous improvement of shipping processes.
Job Description
* Lead and supervise the Shipping Team in preparing machines for dispatch - Team of 20
* Coordinate and arrange trailers and loading schedules for outgoing machines
* Answer CSIRs, ensuring timely investigation and resolution
* Create, maintain, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all shipping activities
* Train, develop, and coach shipping staff to ensure consistent standards and compliance
* Complete and manage the W21 plan, ensuring targets and actions are met
* Control and manage the shipping budget, including packing costs and shipping consumables
* Conduct performance appraisals and provide regular feedback to team members
* Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance
* Ensure all shipping activities comply with health, safety, and company standards
Essential Criteria:
* Previous experience in a supervisory or team-leading role, ideally within manufacturing, logistics, shipping, or dispatch
* Strong understanding of machine preparation, packaging, or heavy equipment shipping (or willingness to learn quickly)
* Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team
* Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and plan shipping activities
* Experience dealing with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. production,ICS, transport providers)
* Ability to create and follow structured processes, including SOPs and work instructions
* Comfortable managing budgets and controlling costs
* Confident using systems, reports, and plans (e.g. W21 or similar performance tools)
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal
