This post is for a Research Assistant to be part of the psychology team in the The Darwin Centre for Young People.
The Darwin Centre for Young People is a Tier adolescent inpatient unit based in Cambridge. The unit offers assessment and treatment to young people, aged - years old, experiencing psychiatric, emotional or psychological problems that interfere with their social, interpersonal and educational functioning.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post are to collect, collate and support the analysis of outcome data under direct supervision of the teams’ clinical psychologists, working independently according to a plan agreed with the qualified psychologists and within the overall framework of the teams’ policies and procedures.
Additionally, this role will also involve assistance in clinically related administration, assessment, conduct of audits, collection of statistics and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
The ideal candidate would demonstrate excellent communication and relationship building skills, have experience of quantitative and qualitative research methods and evaluation methodologies, and have an ability to work flexibly and autonomously. This job requires a mix of skills and behaviours both academic ( academic training; knowledge of the evidence base on demographic and clinical factors regarding mental health) and inter-personal, particularly with regards to engagement ( ability to engage with a diverse population; ability to communicate with non-researchers).
