MWH Treatment is looking to strengthen our SHEQ team with a Senior Health and Safety Advisor based on one of our major infrastructure projects within the Severn Trent Region.
Wanlip is a high-profile construction scheme involving complex civil engineering, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning works. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that robust health and safety standards are consistently implemented across the site.
Proven experience in managing health and safety on complex construction sites, including multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors, with a key focus on both client and construction partner relationships, is essential.
You will lead and advise on the implementation of health and safety procedures, manage risks, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
You will embed yourself within the site management team, contractors, and client to promote a safe working environment, reduce accidents, and foster a culture of health and safety excellence.
Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the MWH cultural change program is embedded and visible across the project, supporting the development and promotion of this program.

You will report directly to the Health and Safety Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Understanding our approach to managing SHEQ risk and delivering best-in-class performance at a senior level.
2. Championing a proactive safety culture, engaging with contractors, subcontractors, and all key stakeholders.
3. Maintaining a dynamic and driven approach to supporting SHEQ across the company.
4. Facilitating the development and implementation of policies, procedures, management systems, and risk controls to reduce risk and support a positive SHEQ culture at MWH.
5. Working closely with the project director, construction teams, contractors, and external bodies to integrate health and safety into the project workflow.
6. Organising audits and supporting the delivery and execution of SHEQ assurance audits.
7. Conducting accident/incident investigations or supporting investigations conducted by the Head of SHEQ.
8. Integrating within the wider project teams to understand day-to-day challenges.
9. Collaborating with our client to deliver effective SHEQ approaches.
10. Gaining exposure to the project management lifecycle of project delivery.
11. Highlighting opportunities for sustainable solutions.
12. Trending and analyzing key performance data.
13. Maintaining our externally certified management systems.
Essential skills include:
* Ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate large volumes of data while maintaining data integrity.
* Ability to identify trends and clearly articulate issues or findings.
* Proven experience working as part of a SHEQ team.
* Ability to interpret legislation and Approved Codes of Practice.
* Good organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
* Effective communication skills to engage at all levels within the organization.
* Confidence in decision-making, with the ability to escalate issues appropriately.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Flexibility regarding work hours and location.
