An excitingopportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual with excellentleadership skills to join Speciality Medicine as Ward Manager on Avon 4 atWorcestershire Royal Hospital.
Avon 4 is a 21 bedded Acute Medicine ward that delivers high standard of care and support toacutely ill patients.
We aim toprovide an individualised and supportive environment for patients in which todeliver this specialised care for acutely unwell patients.
The role of the ward manager is a challenging one, and suitable candidate should be able to demonstrate evidence of creating a culture of support and learning and demonstrate significant band 6 experience to work with both patients and staff to deliver high standards of care to our patients, support families / carers.
The successful applicant will be fully supported to by their Matron, with a development plan and focussed supervision.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be able to co-ordinate and prioritize care in a busy environment, working with a multi professional team within a well-established team of consultants, doctors and nurses.
You will be a highly motivated forward-thinking professional who can demonstrate the ability to lead and support staff in a proactive and effective way.
You will be expected to lead by example, infection prevention and control must be high on your agenda and providing evidence based care to deliver a high standard service to our patients and supporting families and carers.

Job responsibilities
To ensure a high standard of nursing care at all times through the effective management of staff and resources on his / her allocated department. To demonstrate strong clinical leadership in stressful and challenging situations. To promote a positive approach to new challenges and creative ways of working. To act as advocate for their designated area and liase with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to co-ordinate all aspects of patient care in the best interests of the patient and family.
5. To ensure effective training and educational programmes are available by liasing with appropriate personnel to meet the training and educational needs of nurses in the clinical area. This post carries continuing responsibility for the management of the Ward, including the deployment and supervision of staff.
6. Accept personal responsibility and accountability for your infection prevention and control practice. Ensure that you are familiar with, and comply with, all relevant policies. Ensure that you receive mandatory updates in infection control.

7. Registered Nurse on sub part 1 of the NMC professional register.
8. Degree or working towards.
9. Evidence of significant Continuing Professional Development.
