Role Overview
As an RCCW, you will work with young people who are in care, edge of care or children with disability from the age of 5 through to the age of 18. The role works in a multi‑disciplinary team and provides support for children & young people in developing their skills to independence.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, monitor and review individual risk assessments, homes support plans, care plans and ensure that all actions resulting from them are followed.
* Assist young people in dealing with behavioural, emotional, or other difficulties in line with policy, procedure, Children Quality Care Standards and regulation 2015, Supported Accommodation Standards & Regulations.
* Knowledge of safeguarding in a children and young people’s context.
* Participate in the professional life of the home and work as a member of the residential staff team.
* Accurately complete all relevant records and files in accordance with statutory requirements and home policies.
* Participate in training, attend staff meetings, and assist with home functions including administration duties.
* Ensure compliance with regulation frameworks the home falls within and understand OFSTED.
* Support young people to develop skills and confidence moving on to independent living.
Key Requirements
* Experience of delivering life skills and/or participation programmes to young people in a youth work, social care, or health setting.
* At least 1 year’s experience working with children and young people.
* Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification). Preferably started or completed and competent with qualifications and able to complete level 3 in residential care.
* Attention to detail ensuring correct information is recorded in all paperwork, keeping this up to date and organised for the manager’s review.
