Social Worker – Fostering Supervising Social Worker

Derbyshire County Council is inviting a qualified Social Worker to join the Fostering Team. In this role you will supervise and support approved Foster Carers across High Peak, South Derbyshire, North East Derbyshire & Chesterfield. You will contribute to the development of the service and support the Council’s commitment to good outcomes for children.
Responsibilities and duties
* Regular supervision and support of approved Foster Carers in line with the Fostering National Minimum Standards and statutory guidance.
* Joint and collaborative working with children’s social workers and other professionals.
* Completion of annual Foster Carer reviews and facilitation of Foster Carer support groups.
* Attendance of Foster Panel meetings.
* Participation in a rota for fostering duty.
* Provision of monthly reflective case supervision and, if required, mentorship.
Qualifications
* Qualified Social Worker (active registration with the College of Social Work).
* Evidence of strong assessment and analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication.
* Experience of supporting Foster Carers is desirable but not essential.
* Understanding of national and local issues facing Foster Carers.
Location and working arrangements
The post is based in South Derbyshire. The successful applicant may need to cover other areas of Derbyshire and the surrounding county on occasion. This is a full‑time (37 hours) temporary 12‑month post covering maternity leave.
