Job Purpose: The Civils Supervisor oversees and coordinates civil reactive works, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with SHEQ regulations. The role involves supervising a team of workers, liaising with subcontractors, and ensuring that materials, resources, and labor are used effectively to deliver high-quality results.
Job Responsibilities
1. Site Supervision:
* Oversee day-to-day operations on reactive civil site, ensuring that work progresses according to plan.
* Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
* Coordinate the activities of workers, subcontractors, and equipment operators.
1. Project Management:
* Assist in planning and scheduling civils activities.
* Monitor project timelines and progress, identifying and addressing any potential delays.
* Ensure that materials and resources are available as needed and manage their efficient use.
2. Quality Control:
* Inspect work for compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
* Identify and resolve any issues or defects in civils work.
* Ensure that all completed work meets quality standards before sign-off.
3. Health and Safety:
* Enforce health and safety regulations on-site, ensuring that all workers adhere to safety protocols.
* Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
* Report and investigate any incidents or accidents on-site, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
4. Communication and Coordination:
* Serve as the main point of contact between the site workforce and Civils Manager.
* Liaise with the client, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that their requirements are met.
* Communicate effectively with team members, providing clear instructions and guidance.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
* Maintain accurate records of daily work activities, progress, and any issues encountered.
* Prepare and submit reports if required by the civils manager.
* Document and manage any changes to the job scope or schedule.
6. Team Leadership:
* Supervise and motivate a team of workers, ensuring they perform efficiently and effectively.
* Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to less experienced workers.
* Address and resolve any conflicts or issues within the team.
7. Cost Management:
* Monitor and manage on-site expenses.
* Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
8. Scope & setup jobs:
* Contact customers to arrange access and communicate any work date changes.
* Update CSMS daily and allocate job packs to gangs.
* Order plant and materials through the procurement team.
* Receive completed jobs, conduct site audits, and deliver safety briefings and team meetings.
* Assist with customer queries, plan and book jobs with the planning team, and liaise with clients, customers, and authorities.
* Ensure site safety, proper work execution, and address site issues.
* Participate in CEC or Escalations rota, complete site audits, instruct teams, and monitor temporary works for sign-off.
