We are looking for a Technical Manager with previous experience in the Industrial Automation domain to join our engineering team based in Banbury, UK.
Technical Manager - Industrial Automation
Job Responsibilities
* Manage all engineering activities of projects related to Controls Hardware and Software, ensuring timely delivery within scope, quality, and budget, while adhering to established standards.
* Estimate and manage project risks related to controls engineering, including planning and scheduling, and act as the primary contact for controls engineering matters.
* Involve in the full project cycle from sales through engineering to handover.
* Support the Sales team during the sales phase with technical advice, estimation, project scheduling, and understanding of required engineering skills.
* Identify process improvements and prepare relevant documentation.
* Ensure the Controls Engineering team has the right skills and resources for project execution.
* Serve as the main Controls Engineering contact for project managers, site managers, procurement, manufacturing, and clients’ architects and consultants.
* Lead project Controls Engineering teams through task allocation and reporting.
* Create and update project status reports, financial forecasts, and schedule updates, ensuring cost control.
* Document and manage project risks and prepare status reports or variation requests as needed.
* Ensure all project Quality Gates are met for Controls Engineering.
* Conduct site safety audits, derive actions, and support lessons learned sessions and project closure.
* Ensure timely delivery of necessary documentation for installation, such as schematic drawings.
Work Experience & Qualifications
* Degree in a technical engineering discipline.
* Experience in project engineering roles involving budgeting, planning, scheduling, and risk management.
* Experience in industrial automation environments.
* Proven leadership of project teams on complex projects.
* Understanding of PLC and control systems.
* Knowledge of ISO standards relevant to the automated warehouse industry.
* Ability to travel approximately 50% depending on project stage.
* Strong communication, organization, and proactive skills.
* Familiarity with MS Project, JIRA, and other project management tools.
* Understanding of design standards such as Machinery Directive and safety standards.
