Ward Manager – Senior Sister / Charge Nurse
Department: Neonatal unit
Band 7. £49,387 – £56,515 per annum pro rata.
Hours: Full time secondment, 37.5 per week, to cover maternity leave. All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working.
Overview
Are you an experienced, expert leader in neonatal care with a specialty qualification? We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, senior neonatal leadership team. You'll play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of care, developing services, and compassionately leading the team.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the neonatal unit, providing safe and effective care for a total of 17 cots.
* Manage day‑to‑day activities across ITU, HDU, and Special Care, ensuring effective and safe decision‑making.
* Act as a clinical expert, providing evidence‑based care and acting as a resource for the multidisciplinary team.
* Participate in staff management and leadership, fostering a collaborative work environment and supporting the team's health and wellbeing.
* Promote clinical excellence and innovative practice while working closely with the multidisciplinary team.
* Ensure familiarity with risk, governance, and safeguarding processes.
* Support the team to achieve nursing excellence in neonatal care and encourage professional development.
* Ensure all team members maintain mandatory and essential training in line with the Trust and Division requirements.
Qualifications
* Experienced senior nurse leader in neonatal care with a specialty qualification.
* Proven leadership qualities and clinical excellence.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
* Ability to act as a resource for the multidisciplinary team and provide high‑quality, evidence‑based care.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and supporting staff well‑being.
