Kitchen Assistant - Monarch Education (Partnership with Large Secondary School, Central Birmingham) Location: Central Birmingham Hours: 7:30am - 2:00pm, Monday to Friday Contract: Term Time Only Position Overview: Monarch Education is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Kitchen Assistant to provide essential support within the catering services of a large secondary school in Central Birmingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, service, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety to ensure a smooth, efficient, and hygienic operation in a busy school environment. Key Responsibilities: Assisting with the preparation, assembly, and service of school meals in accordance with food safety standards and school policies. Supporting the kitchen team in daily food production and portion control to meet the nutritional and safety standards required in a secondary school setting. Ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of all kitchen and dining areas, including equipment, utensils, and surfaces, adhering strictly to health and safety regulations. Managing stock levels, assisting with stock rotation, and reporting any shortages or issues to the senior kitchen staff. Setting up and clearing down dining areas efficiently, ensuring a positive and welcoming environment for students and staff. Contributing to a safe working environment by following all health and safety procedures and reporting hazards promptly. Supporting the wider catering team in maintaining a professional, friendly, and efficient service. Essential Requirements: Proven experience working in a professional kitchen environment, preferably within a school or similar setting. Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards, with the ability to adhere to strict health and safety protocols. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of service.
