We are seeking qualified nurses to join our proactive team. If you are a newly qualified nurse interested in a career in acute nursing, we support your development and will provide the necessary support to help you succeed.

Newly qualified nurses will undergo a 12-month preceptorship with experienced staff. We look for excellent nurses eager for challenging roles and committed to delivering high-quality patient care.

An Enhanced DBS Certificate, including checks against the Children's and Adults Barred Lists, is required for this position.

The AMU is a fast-paced, busy environment. Successful candidates will be dynamic, enthusiastic, and interested in advancing their careers in medical nursing.

Ongoing in-service training and development are essential. We are committed to providing a supportive environment and a structured preceptorship program. We also offer opportunities for professional development through ward-based training and funding options like apprenticeships.

Our trust is part of a partnership between St Helens & Knowsley and Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals, now unified under the Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since 1st July. We serve a population of over 600,000 across multiple locations, providing regional services for burns, plastic surgery, and spinal injuries.

Our achievements include an Outstanding rating by CQC in August 2018, recognition as a top NHS employer, and a National Preceptorship Accreditation in 2023.

Key duties include contributing to quality patient care, assisting with patient admissions/discharges, participating in care standards development, and promoting safeguarding.

Clinical responsibilities involve maintaining registration, adhering to NMC codes, ensuring appropriate nursing care, infection control, incident reporting, and effective communication.

Administrative duties include accurate patient record-keeping, using hospital systems effectively, and ensuring patient tracking is up-to-date.

Teaching responsibilities encompass facilitating competency acquisition, participating in staff training, and mentoring students and junior staff.

Line management roles include acting as a preceptor, deputising for senior nurses, and role modeling professional behavior.

Participation in research, audits, and quality improvement projects is encouraged to maintain high standards of care.
