R&D Tax Credits Software & IT Specialist - Senior Associate
Join PwC UK as a Senior Associate on our Tax Innovation & Capital Incentives (ICI) team, based within the Listed and Inbound (L&I) tax group. The role is client‑facing from day one, with a focus on R&D tax credits, tax strategy, compliance and advising on the pricing implications of goods and services between related parties. You’ll help clients improve their tax function, control risk and make better decisions.
About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our ICI team. The team focuses on growth and serves clients across all industries including engineering, pharmaceuticals, food & drink, manufacturing, financial services and IT & software development. The role is a great fit for someone with a background in computer science/ software engineering who enjoys learning about cutting‑edge technologies and wants to apply their software and technology knowledge in a client‑facing role.
What Your Days Will Look Like
* Manage client relationships, deadlines and day‑to‑day queries; establish yourself as a trusted contact.
* Interview client technical teams to support them in understanding R&D tax legislation and identify qualifying R&D projects.
* Prepare technical reports highlighting R&D activities undertaken by our clients across numerous industries.
* Collaborate with internal financial teams to accurately quantify eligible R&D expenditures.
* Explore ways to add value for clients by leveraging expertise within the broader tax team and across other service lines.
* Support junior staff through coaching and recognition of development needs.
* Proactively pursue business development opportunities to win work for existing clients and new targets.
* Manage multiple stakeholders across the national ICI network.
* Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge on industry developments and tax regulations.
This Role Is For You If
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Sciences, Technology, or related fields, or industry experience in software engineering or IT.
* Strong ability to identify and articulate the research activities undertaken by our clients.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and the wider tax team.
* Ability to work autonomously and lead self, taking responsibility for your own development.
* Passion for client service and general enthusiasm, encouraging you to actively deal with clients at all levels of seniority.
* Strong organisational skills to manage multiple clients and stakeholders.
* Analytical skills to understand the numerical aspects of claims and compile them.
* Good problem‑solving skills, thinking for yourself and delivering potential solutions.
