We are seeking a passionate and skilled Stroke Physician to join our dynamic Stroke Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based stroke care within a modern and well-resourced healthcare setting.
About the Role
We welcome applicants with experience in Stroke, Neurology, Acute Medicine, or Geriatrics. The successful candidate will work within a forward-thinking department committed to excellence in acute and rehabilitation stroke and TIA services.
The department provides in-hours mechanical thrombectomy services, Monday to Friday, supported by Barts Health out of hours. Currently, we are providing alternate week 24/7 MT coverage until further notice. You will provide specialist stroke care across the entire patient pathway, from hyperacute and acute stroke management to rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver comprehensive care for stroke patients admitted to BHRUT.
2. Undertake ward rounds and conduct multidisciplinary meetings.
3. Ensure prompt discharge planning for stroke patients under your care.
4. Teach and train junior doctors and medical students.
5. Support the development of the stroke specialty in line with the Trust's strategic objectives and the Clinical Lead's vision.
6. Provide clinical leadership to the stroke service and ensure adherence to the National Stroke Standards.
7. Manage clinical pathways within stroke medicine effectively.
8. Collaborate with ICBs to ensure a safely delivered stroke and TIA service.
9. Ensure protocols for stroke and TIA patients are appropriate and in place.
10. Work with the Clinical Lead, Matron, and General Manager to meet Patient Access targets.
11. Support training opportunities within stroke medicine alongside the Clinical Lead.
12. Ensure processes are aligned with National Stroke Standards and support the Trust's strategic goals.
