About the role
The post-holder is responsible to the Head of Periodontology and accountable to the Institute Director, Professor Dave Spratt. For clinical matters the post holder will report to the Clinical Lead in Periodontology, Mr Kalpesh Patel. The post-holder will play an active role in delivering high-quality postgraduate education and clinical training in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. This includes the direct supervision of complex clinical procedures of postgraduate students enrolled in the full-time MClinDent programme in Periodontology, involvement in clinical teaching and curriculum development, and participation in examination processes. The role also includes contributions to research activities within the Periodontology unit and collaboration with colleagues to maintain clinical governance and educational excellence. The appointee will support the coordination and administration of postgraduate programmes, ensuring alignment with both Institute goals and regulatory requirements. This post is offered part-time at Starting salary offered in the range of £7,.80 – 8,.90 ( 10% of £72, - £88,) per annum including London Allowance. Salary on appointment is subject to experience. About you
The post-holder must be an experienced clinician and educator in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry, with a strong commitment to postgraduate education and clinical excellence. They must hold a BDS or equivalent, must be registered with the General Dental Council or be eligible to register and have completed a specialist training programme in Periodontology, being either on or eligible for inclusion on the UK GDC Specialist List in Periodontics. The post-holder must have significant experience in postgraduate teaching, including supervision of advanced surgical techniques, and a proven track record in regenerative and mucogingival procedures around teeth and dental implants. They must be a confident communicator with the ability to inspire and support students, and have a solid understanding of clinical research methodology. The post-holder will be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service Assessment.
