About the role
Balfour Beatty is seeking an experienced Approved Electrician to support the delivery of temporary site services packages across projects throughout the UK. This is a hands‑on, safety‑critical role, working closely with site teams to ensure all electrical installations are delivered safely, compliantly, and right first time.
The role will require regular travel to key project sites across the UK and will include lodging as required, depending on project location. You will play a key role in promoting Balfour Beatty’s Zero Harm culture and supporting high standards of quality, safety, and environmental performance across every project.
What you’ll be doing
* Acting as an Electrical Appointed Person in line with Balfour Beatty Electrical Safe Systems of Work (ESSW)
* Championing our Zero Harm and Right First Time culture on every project
* Ensuring electrical works are carried out safely, compliantly and to a high standard
* Reviewing and working to Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Task Briefings and Toolbox Talks
* Identifying hazards and proactively putting effective controls in place
* Ensuring plant, tools and equipment are suitable, compliant and well maintained
* Supporting quality inspections, testing and QA processes (including BIM Field 360)
* Working closely with supervisors, engineers, subcontractors and site teams
* Monitoring scope, identifying variations and highlighting issues early
* Promoting sustainable, efficient and cost‑effective solutions on site
Who we’re looking for
Essential
* Experience working with temporary electrical installations
* Sound knowledge of BS7671 and current health & safety legislation
* Proven ability to communicate safe systems of work clearly and confidently
* ECS card, SMSTS, and a full UK driving licence
* A proactive, flexible approach (including nights/weekends if required)
* Strong teamwork, communication and organisational skills
Desirable
* Fully qualified Electrician with experience operating as, or progressing to, an AP
* Experience delivering work to tight deadlines across multiple projects
* Solution‑focused mindset with the ability to assess risk and make balanced decisions
* Experience supporting handovers, inspections and quality assurance
