Workshop Operative
Our client, a successful manufacturing business close to Norwich, are currently seeking a Workshop Operative to join their team.
This is a full time permanent position, working in Norwich.
Hours:
Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
There is also the requirement to work on Saturdays until 1 PM.
Due to seasonal variations within the business, these hours may be increased in the winter or reduced in the summer.
The ideal candidate will have a good engineering aptitude and will be of a practical nature and work ethic.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
1. Highly organised and able to work under high pressure during busy periods.
2. Be able to reliably commute to the Norwich office
3. Have a flexible approach to working hours and be able to work extended hours when required.
4. Clean or near clean driving license is preferable
5. Understand basic engineering drawings, methods and terminology.
6. Understand the principles of engineering and good working practices.
7. Ability to make basic calculations around material dimensions and specifications without the use of a calculator
8. Able to get on with others and a team player
9. Adaptable, reliable, tolerant and determined.
Key Responsibilities:
10. To assist with or complete the construction, production and assembly of cases and affiliated products using a variety of hand tools or power tools.
11. To fabricate and assemble sub-assemblies with sufficient lead time to enable others to complete more complex products as scheduled
12. Liaise with the Workshop Manager, to implement work schedules to ensure the timely completion of all sales orders
13. Ensure a high standard of quality production with continuous improvement, reporting any problems or potential problems to the Workshop Manager
14. Train to be able to carry out the maximum range of tasks, for which they are capable, within the workshop department
15. Comply with all aspects of the Health and Safety procedures at all times.
16. Ensure that all defined personal protection equipment is utilised within the workshop or for the safe use of hand held tools e.g. hand routers, grinders, etc
17. Support and assist the Workshop Manager and other Machine operators/Finishers.
18. Liaise closely with other production functions to resolve assembly queries
HOLIDAYS: 32 days per annum, including 8 days for public holidays, 3 or 4 days to be taken over Christmas shut-down
