Senior team lead in ai engineering

Turing College

Offer description

Position Type: Full-time

Turing College aims to build a personal relationship with the learners which helps to achieve amazing educational results. While the main learning at Turing College is self‑paced, with the 1on1 support of industry professionals, learners build real skills and a portfolio of projects. Our mentors’ community is the crucial resource that helps learners study more efficiently compared to what they could achieve on their own.

A Senior Team Lead at Turing College is able to work at an extremely flexible time schedule and is expected to do so in addition to their main role in the industry.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Team Lead (STL), you will be the main part of this personal interaction and the main representative of Turing College to a learner – a role that is arguably the most important and influential that we have. There are a couple of ways to contribute as Senior Team Lead:

* Project reviews. Project reviews are the most important part of Turing College education methodology. During the review, the learner presents the project work, and the STLs, based on the task requirements and their own experience, review the work.
o Project review is an analog of a code(task) review with a senior at a real workplace. We want to make it feel like a collaborative experience with a supportive lead in an actual team.
o A review happens at a time suitable for the reviewer. In our platform, the reviewer adds the time slots during which they are available and the learner can choose those times.
o Every project review requires preparation & reflection – STL should come prepared. The time spent on preparation, as well as the actual review time, is compensated.
o A review usually lasts around 45 minutes, while the preparation may take anywhere between 15 minutes to an hour.
* Leading stand‑up meetings. A stand‑up at Turing College is a meeting led by a Senior Team Lead during which learners get to regularly meet other learners from their course and build a community, discuss relevant topics, practice speaking skills, and get help with their studies. Stand‑up is a core part of the learning experience at Turing College.
o The minimum requirement for STLs is to have 1 stand‑up session per week.
o A stand‑up meeting usually lasts around 45 minutes.
* Leading Virtual Classrooms. These are voice channels which students join when they wish to study together with their peers and a mentor available to help them. The mentor’s responsibility is to “check‑in” with active students regularly to ensure they are getting the support they need and to discuss the recently learned topics.
o Virtual Classroom times are usually set as a weekly schedule in advance and a single mentor ideally takes at least 2 hours in succession.
* Other ways to contribute to the community.
o Leading open sessions. Open sessions are drop‑in drop‑out calls during which learners can join and ask technical questions about their project work.
o Leading workshops. Workshops are topic‑specific events where a mentor demonstrates a particular skill and guides learners to use the skill themselves.
o Contributing to content improvements or other initiatives.

All activities are done fully online.

Why Become a Mentor?

* Get to know the top up‑and‑coming talents in the industry
* Deepen your own knowledge, even if you are very experienced already
* Practice your mentorship and leadership skills
* Become a part of Turing College mentor community – we organise multiple events throughout the year to allow networking with exceptional specialists
* Know that you are working on something meaningful, positively affecting lives of many enthusiastic people willing to learn what you already know

Expected Qualifications

Our Senior Team Leads (STL) are seasoned industry professionals with a minimum of 2‑3 years, ideally more, of experience in roles such as data analyst, data scientist, data engineer, web developer, or digital marketer. Academic experience (e.g. lecturing, PhD work, research etc.) is a strong bonus, but needs to be complemented with industry experience as well.

Since all our courses and teaching are done in English, excellent mastery of the language is required.

Depending on the specific course they are involved in, we expect our STLs to have proficiency in various technical skills, including but not limited to:

Note: a Senior Team lead does not need to be proficient in all the topics of a program – covering at least 60% of a single program, like Data Analytics, is usually enough, as it is possible to flexibly choose which topics one will work with.

* AI Engineering:
o Experience in building products that strongly utilise generative AI. Experience integrating different models into these products, such as OpenAI’s GPT models, Gemini models, Llama, etc. Experience with most up‑to‑date AI Engineering concepts and architectures.
o Strong software engineering background
