Main duties
As a Commis Chef, your primary role is to assist the Chef de Partie in preparing food and performing basic cooking tasks. You will work in different areas of the kitchen, such as vegetables, fish and meat, and sauces, usually on a six-month rotation programme. Other responsibilities include supporting all chefs to manage and deliver catering services, participating in meetings with residents and Heads of Departments, preparing nutritious food and beverages to a high standard, and preparing special diet meals as needed.

Responsibilities
As a Commis Chef, your primary role is to assist the Chef de Partie in preparing food and performing basic cooking tasks. You will work in different areas of the kitchen, such as vegetables, fish and meat, and sauces, usually on a six-month rotation programme. Other responsibilities include:
* Supporting all chefs to manage and deliver catering services throughout the home, ensuring resident choice, dignity, confidentiality, and safety.
* Participating in meetings with residents and Heads of Departments to discuss and agree on catering functions across the home and address residents\' special needs or dietary requirements, including knowledge of cultural and religious preferences.
* Preparing nutritious food and beverages to a high standard, as directed by the Chefs, promptly and in accordance with agreed mealtimes.
* Preparing special diet meals as needed and as directed by the Chefs.

Our ideal candidate must:
* Hold a catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent.
* Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
* Have a minimum of 1 year catering experience.
* Demonstrate compassion and commitment to the delivery of high-quality culinary services to residents.
* Be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
