Job Description
Come and make a difference at Karbon as a Grounds Maintenance Assistant. We are looking to appoint a fixed-term Grounds Maintenance Assistant who will work outdoors in all weather conditions, using a broad range of horticultural and arboricultural equipment across Karbon to keep our customers' neighborhoods well maintained.
About The Role
You will operate and be responsible for various ride-on and other horticultural equipment, drive an allocated Karbon vehicle, and be committed to ongoing learning and development. You should have an awareness of health and safety, quality service delivery, and high levels of customer care, and enjoy working as part of a team.
Responsibilities include helping maintain Karbon and external contract sites, working in all weather conditions, and using horticultural and arboricultural equipment for tasks such as cyclical maintenance, garden clearance, grass cutting, fly tipping, waste removal, and other duties as directed by the Lead Grounds Maintenance Operative.
We seek an enthusiastic individual with a love for outdoor work to support our team, providing excellent service with a focus on customer satisfaction, safety, performance, and continuous improvement. The position is based in Chester le Street.
About You
We are looking for someone with drive, initiative, resilience, and a commitment to continual improvement. You should have knowledge of modern ground maintenance practices and experience in maintaining outdoor areas. Ability to follow instructions and think independently is essential. You must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions in a physically demanding role, with a strong focus on teamwork, customer service, and personal development.

* Fixed term until 02 December 2025
* Salary: £24,242
* Location: Chester le Street
* Hours: 37 per week (0700 – 1500 Monday – Thursday, 0700 – 1430 Friday)
