POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Manager, Design & Project Management – Premium Brands, Europe & North Africa supports the delivery of design and project management activities across Marriott International’s premium portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Director, Premium Brands, the role is responsible for managing renovation, conversion, and new development projects for managed, franchised, and company-owned hotels.
The position ensures quality control, brand compliance, and operational acceptability within approved budgets and timelines. Working closely with Owners, Development, Brand, and Operations teams, the role oversees projects from concept through completion, contributing to strong stakeholder relationships and successful project delivery across the region.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Design & Project Management
1. Deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with brand standards
2. Manage renovation and new development projects from concept through completion
3. Provide direction to design teams to ensure alignment with brand strategy and operational requirements
4. Review design documentation, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance and quality
5. Lead project kick-offs and communicate scope, timelines, and expectations clearly
6. Support feasibility reviews and early-stage project evaluations with Development teams
7. Oversee model room reviews and ensure adherence to brand standards
8. Manage punch list and project handover processes in partnership with the Openings team
9. Support value engineering efforts to balance design intent and budget requirements
Stakeholder & Owner Management
10. Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, and franchisees
11. Act as a key point of contact throughout the project lifecycle
12. Ensure consistent communication and alignment with regional and property stakeholders
13. Represent Marriott International’s interests in resolving project challenges and driving successful outcomes
Operations & Project Execution
14. Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants across disciplines
15. Prepare and support presentations for Design Review and approval processes
16. Assess properties for conversion opportunities and develop Property Improvement Plans (PIPs)
17. Ensure projects meet operational, brand, and guest experience expectations
Financial & Performance Management
18. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery within budget and timeline
19. Partner with Global Design Accounting to maintain financial discipline across projects
20. Balance owner priorities, brand standards, and commercial considerations in decision-making
Additional Responsibilities
21. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
22. Ensure compliance with Marriott International regional policies and procedures
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Experience
23. Minimum 5 years of experience in hospitality design, architecture, or project management
24. Proven experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, international environment
25. Strong understanding of hotel development, renovation, and conversion processes
Education
26. Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management, or related field preferred
27. Equivalent industry experience will be considered
Technical Skills
28. Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
29. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design tools (., Bluebeam, Adobe, DWG viewers)
30. Solid project management and organizational skills
