Senior Development Scientist
Location: On-site, Oak Tree House, BB18 6JZ (working across both Broughton sites)
Salary: £39,700 – £52,000 per annum + Excellent Benefits
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday (8-hour days, 30-minute lunch break)
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

We are seeking an experienced Senior Development Scientist to take a lead role in the development of new analytical methods driven by regulatory requirements or client needs.
This position provides technical expertise, supports troubleshooting activities, oversees the work required for project delivery, and manages a team of Development Scientists to ensure high standards across method development and validation.
This role requires working across both Broughton sites as needed.
As our Senior Senior Development Scientist, you will:
* Manage and prioritise workload within the team to meet project requirements.
* Develop and maintain expertise in relevant technical areas.
* Contribute to the development of improved working practices.
* Ensure the team completes analytical work competently and within agreed timelines.
* Use hard copy and electronic data capture systems in alignment with QMS requirements.
* Review analytical data and documentation, reporting discrepancies or potential issues to the Laboratory Manager.
* Produce study protocols, reports, and work instructions.
* Support Operations with sampling and testing activities to meet client study needs.
* Manage the workload of Development Scientists, including performance reviews, monthly 1:1s, PDPs, training and other HR responsibilities.
* Communicate directly with clients, providing subject matter expertise, project updates, and delivery schedules.
* Maintain knowledge of regulatory principles relevant to study conduct.
* Comply with instructions in study plans and test methods, documenting and escalating any deviations appropriately.
* Record raw data promptly and accurately, taking responsibility for data quality.
In order to be successful in this role you must have / be:
* Degree in chemistry or a related field.
* A minimum of 5+ years in a regulated analytical laboratory, with substantial experience in method development or R&D.
* Significant hands-on experience with HPLC, GC, MS, and CDS systems.
* Demonstrable expertise in analytical method development.
* Experience leading a team.
* Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
* Experience working to GMP requirements.
* Confident verbal reasoning and strong IT capability.
It would be great if you had:
* Experience with root cause analysis.
* Experience working directly with clients.
* Strong communication skills across email, virtual and in-person settings.
* Experience with Thermo instrumentation.
* Experience using Chromeleon and statistical packages.
