Support Worker / Independent Advocate
This role empowers vulnerable adults to understand their rights, explore options, and make informed decisions about their health and social care.
Position Details
* Working Hours: 37 hours, Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm
* Location: Home based with travel in and around the Banes area. Applicants must live within the area, have a full driver’s licence and access to their own transport.
* Salary: Starting £24,242.40 per annum
* Job Type: Permanent
Duties
* Deliver independent advocacy to individuals facing health and social care challenges.
* Help clients navigate complex health and social care systems and make informed choices.
* Present persuasive verbal and written representations to professionals and agencies.
* Work with statutory and voluntary organisations to resolve issues and support client outcomes.
* Record casework and data within agreed timescales using client management systems.
* Prioritise and organise workload effectively while meeting deadlines.
* Raise awareness of advocacy rights and responsibilities within the community.
* Handle sensitive and personal information with discretion and professionalism.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
* Excellent communication skills: Build trust, listen actively, and advocate clearly on behalf of clients.
* Strong IT proficiency: Confident using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, with the ability to learn new databases.
* Attention to detail: Ensure records and reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with organisational standards.
* Time management: Able to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote working environment.
Desirable
* Previous advocacy or support experience within a health and social care setting.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and issues affecting vulnerable adults.
* Familiarity with public and voluntary sector organisations in the Banes area.

An enhanced DBS check and National Offender Management Service vetting will be conducted for this position.
