Senior Process Engineer - Wastewater

We are recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer on behalf of a leading client in the UK water sector. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly collaborative wastewater process engineering team working on a variety of treatment projects while also supporting operational sites.
The Role
You will provide technical leadership on wastewater treatment projects, delivering process design outputs while also supporting operational performance across treatment sites. The role blends design, optimisation, commissioning, and strategic improvement work, giving engineers the chance to see their solutions implemented in real environments.
Key responsibilities include:
Producing process calculations, control philosophies, PFDs and P&IDs
Developing process specifications, compliance plans and commissioning documentation
Supporting site operations, optimisation and troubleshooting of wastewater treatment plants
Analysing operational data to improve asset performance and efficiency
Contributing to innovative process solutions and TOTEX efficiencies
Mentoring junior engineers and supporting wider team developmentYou'll regularly visit sites (typically 2-3 per month) to support commissioning, performance improvements, and operational teams.
About You
We are looking for engineers with strong wastewater process knowledge and experience supporting UK water sector projects.
Essential experience:
Background in wastewater treatment
4-5+ years' experience in the water sector or consultancy
Experience in process design, operations support, or optimisation
Degree in Chemical Engineering or similar
Full UK driving licence
Chartership or progress towards it is beneficial.
