Overview
To be responsible and accountable for the overall clinical and operational day‑to‑day delivery of clinical standards of care and the management of the nursing workforce, in accordance with objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints that ensure the delivery of a high quality, patient‑centred service that meets patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of the paediatric strategy within the Integrated Care System, ensuring a robust professional approach to service development and improvement.
* Support the Assistant Director of Nursing to provide professional leadership and management for the implementation and monitoring of the Strategy for Nursing & Midwifery. Maintain systems of work that ensure safe delivery of evidence‑based patient care.
* Support effective patient flows and manage bed resources.
* Develop and maintain communication with staff on complex matters, issues, ideas and situations.
* Develop self‑improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of others.
* Maintain and develop an environment and culture that improves health, safety and security.
* Appraise, interpret and apply recommendations, directives to improve services.
* Improve quality and safety through incidents, PSIRF and complaint management.
* Promote equality and diversity.
* Plan, deliver and evaluate interventions or treatments when complex issues or serious illness arise.
* Test and review new concepts, models, methods, practices, products and equipment using QI methodology.
* Coordinate, monitor and review the use of finance.
* Plan, develop, monitor and review recruitment, deployment and management of people; facilitate capacity and demand modelling.
* Responsibility for patient care, including monitoring, diagnostics and investigations.
* Provide professional leadership to the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Ensure strategies are in place to enhance the patient experience inline with local and national agendas.
* Work closely with public and users of services to promote health and wellbeing.
* Lead on risk management and escalation processes.
This role is responsible for delivering paediatric Matron cover across the 0-19 Universal Services, health visitor and school nursing. The post provides senior clinical leadership, ensuring high standards of patient safety, quality of care, and operational management across these services. It also supports staff leadership, governance, and service development.
