A Day in the Life
Digital Technologies is part of the Medtronic Surgical Robotics operating unit, where we integrate surgical robotics, artificial intelligence, and 3D simulation to bring cutting-edge technology into the operating room. As an AI Test Engineer, you will play a vital role in testing, verifying and validating real-time AI products that assist surgeons during surgical procedures. Your work will directly contribute to the safety and effectiveness of life-saving technologies used in hospitals around the world.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
1. Designing and implementing automated and manual test strategies for AI-based software systems.
2. Developing test plans, test cases, and test scripts for validating model performance, software functionality, and system integration.
3. Collaborating with AI engineers to understand model behavior and edge cases.
4. Identifying, documenting, and tracking bugs and performance issues.
5. Ensuring compliance with software quality standards and regulatory requirements.
6. Participating in code reviews and contributing to continuous integration and deployment of pipelines.
7. Supporting the development of internal tools to streamline testing workflows.
8. Communicating findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
9. BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
10. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in software testing or quality assurance.
11. Strong proficiency in Python and experience with testing frameworks (e.g., PyTest, unittest).
12. Solid understanding of software engineering principles and version control (e.g., Git).
13. Ability to design and execute tests for performance, reliability, and edge cases.
14. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
15. Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Candidates with experience in medical device software or regulated environments are preferred, especially those familiar with risk analysis and safety-critical testing. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and data visualization tools is valuable. Experience with AI/ML model testing, AI frameworks like PyTorch, and model validation techniques is a plus. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), containerization tools (e.g., Docker), and video or real-time systems is also advantageous
