Job Title : Quantity Surveyor Reports to: Commercial Manager Location: Central Manchester initially and then site based with potential opportunity for some remote working Job Type: Full-time The Project Equitix Management Services Limited (EMS) provides management services to Cascade Infrastructure Limited (CIL), a project company comprising STRABAG, GLIL and Equitix as shareholders, which has been appointed by United Utilities (UU) to deliver the Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme (HARP). HARP is a multi-billion-pound infrastructure project to upgrade the water supply apparatus carrying water from the Haweswater reservoir to Greater Manchester. The project involves the construction of approximately 50km of bored tunnels along the existing 110km aqueduct, originally built in the 1950s. Post-construction, UU will operate the aqueduct, with the CIL responsible for major maintenance of the new tunnel sections for 25 years. Service Objective To design and build in line with good industry practice, as required by the contract, on time, at the required level of quality and within budget cost. Role Overview The role involves working within the Project Company team as part of the Commercial Department, which manages the cost aspects of the project, including the submissions for payment from the Contractor carrying out the Works. This includes both establishing the Defined Cost of the originally designed works, and the evaluation of Compensation Events for instructed change to this design, all as part of a bespoke Target Cost Contract. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the successful candidate will carry out the duties noted below, and other duties which may be required from time to time. Support: commercial management and cost control activities for assessment/valuation of cost; and target cost, budget, and contract sum related activities, including forecasting/estimating. Support the reporting and tracking of early warning notices, relief and compensation events, maintaining an accessible Early Warning Notices register. Support in the management of trackers for cost control, applications, payments, and budgets. Support in the updates on the cost to complete budget and contract sum. Minimum Qualifications (guide) BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent. Chartered Membership (MRICS or equivalent) or Associated Member working towards full membership. Minimum Experience in Similar Role (guide) Minimum of 3 years’ experience, post-degree level qualification in commercial management, cost control, or quantity surveying within large-scale construction or infrastructure projects. Proficiency in cost management software and MS Office packages such as Excel and Word. NEC contracts experience (Option C desirable).
