Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to take your career to the next level? Join our dynamic civils team in Scotland and take charge of the commercial management of a diverse portfolio of civil engineering and energy projects. This role offers the opportunity to oversee full project commerciality, including cost control, CVRs, payment applications, cash flow management, change control, early warnings, subcontract procurement, and stakeholder engagement.
About Our Business Unit
Operate within a fast-paced environment delivering multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects for a wide range of clients, including Local Authorities, Network Rail, environmental agencies, and private developers. Our projects typically involve:
* Roads and bridges
* Footbridges and tunnels
* Underbridges and flood alleviation schemes
* Embankments and rail platforms
We are currently managing several live infrastructure projects and long-term frameworks such as Civils Asset Management (CAM), Renewals Enhancement Framework (REF), and slab track schemes.
The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of projects within the Scotland business unit, primarily focusing on civil infrastructure schemes within the power and energy sectors. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Leading the commercial management of multiple sites, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
* Preparing accurate estimates and submissions
* Resolving pricing and contractual issues with clients
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and internal teams
* Collaborating with Site Managers to gather daily project data
* Managing subcontractor relationships and procurement
* Handling change management and issuing early warnings
* Administering contracts (NEC/NR)
* Preparing Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
* Final account closure and reporting
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you should have:
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in civils contracting
* Deep working knowledge of NEC 3 and NEC 4 contracts
* Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
* Ability to manage multiple projects across various clients and sectors
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience in client engagement and internal collaboration
* A proactive approach to contributing to the growth and success of the business unit
