Job Description
PerkinElmer is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Laboratory Technician to provide comprehensive laboratory operations, equipment support, and documentation services at a customer site. The role supports day-to-day laboratory functionality by ensuring consumables, equipment, facilities, and documentation systems are maintained in a compliant, safe, and inspection-ready state.
The successful candidate will work within the PerkinElmer OneSource Laboratory Services organization and collaborate closely with Customer laboratory staff and management. This position plays a critical role in enabling efficient laboratory operations by supporting inventory management, equipment upkeep, housekeeping, safety compliance, and high-quality documentation practices in accordance with Customer SOPs and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
* Support receipt, unpacking, labeling, organization, and inventory management of laboratory consumables and reagents in accordance with Customer-defined procedures.
* Perform routine stock checks, monitor inventory levels, and proactively notify the Customer of low-stock items and reordering requirements.
* Conduct compound weighing, preparation, and handling activities in compliance with documented safety, chemical handling, and waste management procedures.
* Maintain clean, orderly, and compliant laboratory spaces, including housekeeping activities, waste bin management, and adherence to biosafety and chemical safety policies.
* Operate autoclaves and manage liquid nitrogen levels following Customer SOPs and manufacturer guidelines to support sterilization and sample storage needs.
* Perform daily equipment checks, calibrations, and functional verifications for balances, pipettes, pH meters, refrigerators, incubators, and related laboratory equipment.
* Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with Customer SOPs, manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and calibration schedules, documenting maintenance activities and deviations.
* Provide general laboratory operational support, including coordination of service requests, calibration scheduling, and assistance with equipment upkeep and compliance activities.
* Maintain accurate, complete, and contemporaneous documentation of laboratory activities, ensuring data integrity, secure data archiving, and compliance with Customer documentation and retention requirements.
* Prepare reports, summaries, and instrument logs; communicate routine updates and deviations; and support audits, inspections, quality reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives as requested by the Customer.

Basic Qualifications:
* 5x GCSEs at Grade 4 or equivalent vocational qualifications
* 1-2 years' experience in a customer facing role
* 1–2 years of experience working in a laboratory environment following defined SOPs.
* Hands-on experience with laboratory operations, equipment checks, and consumable management.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience supporting regulated or compliance-driven laboratory environments (e.g., GLP, GXP, or QA-supported labs).
* Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration coordination, or autoclave operation.
* Familiarity with inventory management systems or laboratory asset tracking.
* Experience supporting audits, inspections, or quality assurance activities.
* Experience working in a customer-facing or contract laboratory support role.
