Paediatric Occupational Therapist - Band 6

Responsibilities
* Manage your own caseload as a Band 6 in the Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapy team within the SCYPS, supporting children and young people aged 0-19 years.
* Provide supervision and support to junior staff and students with regular formal and informal guidance; participate in monthly supervision and opportunities for Quality Improvement and Clinical Audit.
* Collaborate within a multidisciplinary therapies team (Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dietitians, Paediatricians, Specialist Nurses) to deliver high-quality services and integrated pathways.
* Contribute to evidence-based pathways and service development, including Upper Limb Splinting, Complex Seating, Early Intervention for Young Infants, Specialist DCD Assessment Clinic, and Parent Coaching; work across clinic rooms, client homes, and school settings.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Recognised Occupational Therapy Degree/Postgraduate qualification or equivalent; Registered member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
* Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses.
* Essential: Minimum of 18 months experience at Band 5 (preferably in paediatrics) with demonstrated OT competencies; ability to undertake all aspects of the OT process; skills in a field of specialism such as visual perception with ability to diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Ability to train parents/carers to carry out therapeutic interventions including gross and fine motor activities; experience with sensory integration therapy using appropriate equipment.
* Apply safe manual handling techniques for children/young people with highly complex disabilities.
* Prioritise workload considering clinical and non-clinical elements; reflect and critically appraise performance; strong interpersonal, observation, listening and empathy skills; negotiation and problem-solving abilities; analytical and self-reflection skills.
