Job overview

Band 3 Patient Flow Co-ordinator 36 hours per week.

Based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, we are seeking to recruit a Patient Flow Co-ordinator to work within our busy A&E Department. You will be required to assist in the co-ordination of patient flow through the Emergency Department, liaising with staff, multidisciplinary teams, GPs, patient transport and other hospitals. The department operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Applicants will possess GCSE English and math or equivalent and have experience of working with members of the general public. Experience of using a computer is also essential.

Main duties of the job

* To assist with the flow throughout the Emergency Department.
* Ensure notes are copied and ready for transfer.
* To facilitate transfers throughout the hospital
* To facilitate transfers to other hospitals
* Answering of telephone and relaying messages
* To ensure correct data entry on symphony system.
* To work alongside nurse in charge to ensure smooth running of the department.
* Arrange transport.
