Overview
:
The Senior Project Accountant will be responsible for the monthly revenue recognition and cost reconciliation for Global Pipeline Integrity (GPI) projects. This position will support the Eastern Hemisphere GPI business operations and will be expected work closely with the operations and project management teams to ensure accurately financial reporting at a project level.
Responsibilities:
Project controlling and reporting (60%):
* Collects information about new projects during handover meetings.
* Ensures control of accuracy regarding all accounting information related to the projects in order to alleviate errors.
* Develops and implements cost control systems which ensure a clear view on margins evolution.
* Ensure accurate, timely and documented revenue recognition in both US GAAP and UK GAAP.
* Updates revenues and cost accruals monthly, to reflect economic status in project.
* Makes baseline project budgets together with the project managers.
* Checks all relevant project related financial and operational project data regarding progress and makes necessary amendments, if needed.
* Investigates and analyses all variances with project budgets / prepares forecasts together with Project Managers.
* Ensures project closings performed in a proper method in accordance with procedures.
* Delivers written monthly comprehensive project variance analysis to the management, and explains variances between actual and budgeted figures.
* Makes gap analysis study with regard to objectives by region, communicates any discrepancies or gaps to appropriate Managers.
* Produces reports on profitability by service line SubSBU, customer, project, project owner and service centre.
* Ensures timely and accurate reporting to operational management and regional controllers.
* Performs accounts payable duties and vouchering as required for site/business line.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) support (20%):
* Provides analysis, insight, context and perspective to support the business unit operations management.
* Coordinates and provides financial analysis and direction for various internal- and external-related activities that may be assigned by the business unit management team.
* Prepares monthly comprehensive variance analysis to the business unit and explains variances between actual and budgeted, actual and forecasted figures and as well as actual versus YTD prior year figures.
* Identifies and analyses relationships between results and other economic activities.
* Provides meaningful interpretation and trending information to support business unit goals and objectives.
* Supports the budgeting and forecasting process.
* Monitors and comment on variances of budget vs forecast and against actual performance.
Business Partnering (20 %):
* Increases awareness of the financial impact of business activities within the Project Management team and support decision making processes related to the project financials
Experience
* Undergraduate Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related field is required. Chartered Accountant is beneficial, but not required.
* 5 years of accounting including project related revenue recognition and cost reconciliation.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Proficient in the use of personal computers, Microsoft Excel and Word capability at the intermediate level or beyond.
* Travel requirements should be minimal.
