We are looking for an Aviation Technical Publications Development/Authoring Specialist. The position will organize, review, and edit technical publications, documentation, and related data, gathering and analyzing customer requirements to understand scope and required elements.
The role encompasses supporting the Publications Lead in the day‑to‑day execution of publications and deliverables to meet contract requirements, including publication discrepancy reports (MoD F765), generation of amendments and updates, reviewing technical support publications for grammatical errors, formatting, and style per guidelines, establishing standards and guidelines for technical document structure and format, and recommending content edits to improve clarity, impact, flow, meaning, and readability.
In addition, the specialist will research source data to verify technical accuracy, participate in internal and customer reviews, maintain document configuration, data files, and archives, and ensure first‑time quality and compliance with the quality management system. This role may require interfacing between the customer and other stakeholders in the absence of the publications lead, necessitating strong communication skills. Multi‑tasking in a diverse teamwork environment is essential, and prior aviation maintenance experience is desirable. Occasional travel may be required.
Basic Skills & Requirements
* Conversant with ASD S1000D and/or AVP70.
* Previous experience in the Aviation Technical Publication (CMM, AMM, EMM, IPC) authoring environment.
* Experience with Simplified Technical English.
* Understanding of Support Engineering in a maintenance environment.
* Ability to work with cross‑functional departments to deliver outputs aligned with organisational processes and procedures.
* Focus on delivering first‑time quality with attention to detail and alignment with supporting engineering documentation.
* Must be able to obtain UK SC security clearance.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
* Experience with MoD Form 765 processes.
* Experience liaising with internationally located teams, including Design Organization (DO) interface.
* Ch‑47 Chinook or rotary wing publications authoring experience (preferred).
* Experience creating graphics (desired).
* Degree‑level education in a relevant engineering subject or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Successful candidates must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.
